Cornwall Manor is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will assist in planning and implementing appropriate group activity programs to meet the needs and interests of our Health Center residents. We are looking for someone who is motivated, creative, and passionate about enhancing the quality of life for our residents.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in planning and implementing appropriate group activity programs as assigned to meet the needs and interests of the Health Center residents in accordance with federal, state, and facility guidelines.
- Provide individual interventions, using therapeutic techniques, to meet the needs of designated residents as assigned.
- Motivate and assist all Health Center residents to participate in enhancing and enabling group programs and/or individual activities to the maximum of their potential as assigned.
- Document group attendance and individual interventions in compliance with federal, state, facility, and supervisor requirement/policy.
- Provide activities or supportive services to enhance the quality of residents' lives in compliance with each individual residents' plan of care as documented by the interdisciplinary care plan committee.
- Provide appropriate supplies, instructions, and assistance to residents for use in group activity programs and individual activities as assigned.
- Prepare and return to proper storage area all materials, supplies, and equipment used for group and individual activities. Assist in maintaining and properly caring for all Health Center Activity supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Inventory, label, restock, rotate, and clean supplies and equipment on activity carts and in game room, as instructed and designated.
- Cooperate in utilizing and supervising volunteers as an important and productive part of the activity program.
Physical Requirements:
- Sitting up to 4 hours per day; standing up to 1 hour per day; walking up to 4 hours per day (of a sporadic nature).
- Using fingers/hands, performing firm grasping and twisting/turning motions (sometimes).
- Lifting up to 25 pounds (sometimes).
- Carrying an object(s) up to 10 pounds often; sometimes up to 25 pounds.
- Pushing and/or pulling an object (wheelchairs particularly) up to and in excess of 100 pounds sometimes.
- Stooping/bending, squatting often; sometimes crouching, kneeling, crawling, climbing, reaching above shoulder level.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with the elderly is preferred.
- Ability to take initiative and work independently.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience leading daily activity groups is a plus.
