Job Posting #2425-62 Position: Para Educator 1 -- Lynden Academy PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: Must meet "highly qualified" requirement in one of the following ways: ```{=html} ``` - All newly hired Para Educators will need a high school diploma or its equivalent and have completed two years of college or an associate's degree. If you do not have two years of college, you must have passed the ETS test for paraprofessional.  Documentation of each of these items are required at the time of hire. - Ability and willingness to complete the State of Washington required fundamental course of study for Para Educator. ```{=html} ``` - Previous successful experience working with elementary school and middle school age students, emergent readers and writers, in a school setting - Experience with alternative learning program preferred. - Experience academically assisting students - Ability to relate, interact, and communicate with parents/students - Experience working with Special Education students - Experience with administering student assessments recommended, i.e., progress monitoring, standardized, special service eligibility, etc. - Ability to engage and respond to students of a wide range of physical, social, cognitive and behavioral needs - Experience working with English Language Learners preferred * * RESPONSIBILITIES: Be able to contribute positively to a team effort Relates well to students, parents and colleagues Able to effectively communicate through oral and written language with others Assist teachers in the preparation of relevant educational tools and materials for classroom use Reinforce listening, verbal, reading and writing skills Observe and record students' individual progress * * CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Work Year:  2024-25 school year; 180 days per year; continuing position *Hours: * 5 hours per day; 8:00 a.m. -- 1:30 p.m. Monday through Friday Start Date:  As Soon As possible Salary: $22.74 - $28.50; dependent upon previous Para Educator verified experience Benefits: This position qualifies for healthcare benefits (medical insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, life insurance, and disability insurance), retirement benefits, up to 12 days of sick leave, and up to three (3) days of personal leave per school year.  (Days of sick leave and personal leave are prorated based on employee start date.) *Affiliation: * This is an LCEA represented position -- Internal candidates with Lynden School District LCEA Para Educator seniority have priority.
