Activity Leader

Overview:

Elderwood at Grand Island, a premier assisted living facility in Grand Island, NY, is currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activity Leader to join our dynamic team. As an Activity Leader, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of our residents by planning and facilitating engaging activities that promote social interaction and a sense of belonging.

Responsibilities:

- Plan and coordinate a diverse range of activities, including but not limited to arts and crafts, music and dance, physical fitness, educational programs, and social events.

- Develop and implement activity calendars that reflect the interests and preferences of our residents.

- Encourage and motivate residents to participate in activities and engage in meaningful social interactions.

- Conduct assessments to identify individual resident needs and preferences, and adapt activities accordingly.

- Maintain accurate records of resident participation and document any changes or progress.

- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure the provision of person-centered care.

- Provide support and supervision to volunteers assisting with activities.

- Create a warm and welcoming environment that promotes residents' well-being and independence.

- Uphold and promote Elderwood's mission, values, and high standards of care.

Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in recreation therapy or related field preferred.

- Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a healthcare or senior living setting.

- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to residents and their families.

- Genuine passion for working with older adults and creating a positive and engaging environment.

- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and adapt to changing needs and priorities.
