Contract overview
This is a placement contract between you and the employer. If the employer hires a candidate you submit, you'll be paid the contract amount.
The payments begin when the candidate starts and are disbursed over time. The contract terms are:

Summary:
This position will be responsible for designing, fabricating, and repairing equipment, fixtures, displays, and structures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repair, design, and fabricate structures, equipment, and displays as assigned
- Evaluate work orders to determine scope of work requirements and sequence of welding assignments; gather required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job
- Ensure that preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs, and facilities maintenance are addressed on a timely and proactive basis
- Operate a variety of equipment including drill presses, power tools, grinders, torches, and other welding equipment and hand tools
- Weld materials such as steel, stainless steel, aluminum, cast iron, and others
- Maintain tools, equipment, and workspace in a clean, orderly, and safe manner
- Utilize CMMS work order system for work scheduling, preventative maintenance programs, and record keeping
- Assist where needed in inter-departmental projects and functions
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities (as appropriate to skill level and experience) as assigned
- Have regular and punctual attendance
- Work a modified schedule as needed and determined by management
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
- Thorough understanding of machines and tools used in welding including designs, uses, maintenance, and repair
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and other technical documents
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to function as a member of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays, and serve on an on-call basis as needed
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees
- Valid driver's license with acceptable motor vehicle record to maintain Zoo standards of insurability
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Minimum of two years of directly related experience in welding and fabrication. Experience in the use of common hand and power tools used in the maintenance and construction crafts.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, speak clearly, and hear. The employee must regularly lift and move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and move more than 100 pounds.
Work Environment:
The work environment requires the ability to work well with others in a team-oriented environment and to work irregular hours, holidays, and weekends as assigned. Ability to work special events and functions as required and to work outdoors in heat, cold, and inclement weather.
