Job Summary

The RN Supervisor (Registered Nurse) at Country Villa Bay Vista Healthcare Center is a licensed professional nurse who works directly under the supervision of the Director of Nursing Services. The RN Supervisor plays a vital role in planning, organizing, developing, and directing nursing services to ensure that the highest degree of quality resident care is maintained at all times.


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current nursing licensure in the state in which practicing.
  • At least one year of experience in supervision.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Possess mental, emotional, and physical health.

General Duties and Responsibilities

General

  • Ensure residents have a clean, safe, orderly, and comfortable environment.
  • Initiate resident Plans of Care upon admission.
  • Assist in implementing recommendations from consultants and the Quality Assurance team as directed by the Director of Nursing Services.
  • Help develop, review, revise, and update resident Plans of Care for individual residents.
  • Notify the resident’s attending/alternate physician and legal guardian/representative when the resident experiences criticalillness, injury, or significant changes in condition as per established policies.
  • Review and address complaints and grievances from families, notifying the Director of Nursing Services as necessary.
  • Evaluate emergencies and assist in implementing emergency measures.
  • Ensure the unit area is maintained in a clean and safe manner for resident comfort and convenience, making sure necessary equipment and supplies are available for nursing care.
  • Assist in notifying the physician of any resident incidents/unusual occurrences, ensuring that Accident/Incident Report forms are completed and documented in the resident’s medical record according to established policies.
  • Support the Charge Nurse in investigating alleged abuse or unusual occurrences as per established policies.
  • Commence and monitor intravenous medication as ordered.
  • Assist the Charge Nurse and nursing personnel in performing necessary nursing procedures.
  • Help the Charge Nurse with the admission, transfer, and discharge processes of residents.
  • Assist in correcting findings and deficiencies identified by the Department of Health Services, Consultants, and the Quality Assurance Team.
  • Support the completion of restraint assessments, pain assessments, oral assessments, psychotropic assessments, bowel and bladder assessments, and I & O weekly evaluations.
  • Ensure all nursing notes are charted in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided as well as the resident’s response to that care.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings and in-service classes.
  • Perform other duties as necessary or as directed by the Director of Nursing Services or Administrator.

Supervision

  • Conduct resident rounds to ensure appropriate care is being rendered, identifying and making necessary corrections.
  • Meet with nursing personnel to assist in identifying and correcting problem areas and improving resident care.
  • Assist in making rounds with the attending physician as necessary.
  • Help the Charge Nurse in revising and distributing assignments in the event of nursing shortages.
  • Assist in the supervision and direction of nursing personnel.
  • Participate in disciplinary actions and evaluations of nursing personnel.

Consumer Service

  • Present a professional image to consumers through dress, behavior, and speech.
  • Adhere to company standards for resolving consumer concerns.
  • Ensure that all resident rights are protected.
