Overview
University of Utah Health is seeking a new Executive Director of Ambulatory Services! The Executive Director, Ambulatory Services leads strategic direction for the University of Utah Health Community Clinics (UCC), and ambulatory clinics based at the University Hospital (clinic services in Area E). This position leads operational strategies, priorities and initiatives in collaboration with executive leadership, hospital based ambulatory clinics, ambulatory triad leadership, and other partnerships across the University of Utah health system. The Executive Director (ED) participates in strategic visioning, planning, leadership, project management (oversight) and financial objectives for key service functions. The ED provides insight into operational performance and makes recommendations for improving functionality and performance throughout community clinics. The ED will evaluate current and proposed operational systems and procedures by collecting and analyzing data from technology systems, operational practices, emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, and financial objectives to improve business performance, process improvement and create a division of excellence. The ED serves as a catalyst within community clinics, moving the organization forward to support the financial, quality and patient centered goals. The ED provides input to strategic decisions that affect operational service lines and presents organizational reports to executives, School of Medicine Department Chairs and management for use in business objectives and goals. This position reports directly to the Chief Operations Officer (COO). This position has no responsibility for providing care to patients at this time. Qualified applicants must have completed:
- Master's degree in Hospital Administration, Business Administration or related field, or equivalency.
- Ten years of progressively more responsible experience in a health care setting or equivalency.

Responsible for patient satisfaction scores within assigned area(s). Responsible for upholding PROMISE standards of direct reports and team members.
Quality
Responsible to achieve quality goals for assigned area(s). Manages and promotes continuous process improvements in assigned area(s).
Performance Management
Responsible to provide staff feedback on performance, including on-time appraisals and coaching. Responsible to deal with conflicts in a proactive manner and to reach resolution in a timely manner.
Building Relationships
Forms positive relationships with staff, peers and senior leadership to support the mission, vision, values and performance standards of the organization. Actively engages staff with updates and news as well as involving staff in decisions and work teams. Provides feedback and recognition when appropriate.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. Demonstrated skills in leadership, management, financial planning, quality improvement and service delivery within the assigned area. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills.
