Position Announcement
The Fulton Library at Utah Valley University is hiring a cataloging library assistant to join its Technical Services team.
As a cataloging library assistant, you will be responsible for copy and original cataloging of books, media, scores, electronic resources, and other library collection items. The Technical Services department, an essential part of the Fulton Library's operations, oversees the receiving, cataloging and accessibility of Fulton Library's physical and digital collection. Our mission is to support the UVU community by offering timely access and easy labeling of our items. Summary of Responsibilities
- Responsible for copy cataloging library books by selecting appropriate records from OCLC, importing them into the library system, and performing edits as needed. Ensures all completed records meet current RDA standards. Updates library holdings in OCLC as required.
- Responsible for copy cataloging media items, music scores, and other items by selecting appropriate records from OCLC, importing them into the library system, and performing edits as needed. Ensures all completed records meet current RDA standards. Updates library holdings in OCLC as required.
- Coordinates with other members of staff to perform periodic cataloging projects with the objective of updating outdated or incorrect information. Implements solutions for problematic item records as directed by Sr library assistant over cataloging.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from accredited institution with an associate's degree OR a combination of education and experience related to the summary of duties totaling 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of current copy and original cataloging practices, including MARC, RDA, LC subject and call number classification format, and Dewey call number classification.
- Experience with Authority Control.
- Experience using OCLC Connexion and/or Koha library systems.
