This is a part-time position working on-site and anticipated to work 20 hours per week. Exact work schedule will be agreed upon at time of hire.
In this position you will provide administrative assistance to Behavioral Health Services at the Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) -Shakopee. Duties include maintain filing systems, enter data in software programs (word processing, spreadsheets, databases), respond to customer inquiries, photocopying, assist in processing incoming and outgoing mail, offender payroll functions and order and maintain supplies.
This position works within a Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF – Shakopee).
Minimum Qualifications
Business English language skills sufficient to write and edit letters, emails, reports, and other documents using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
Skills in standard computer software programs for word processing, spreadsheets, and databases sufficient to create, modify, maintain, and protect information/documents.
Typing skills sufficient to perform skilled typing tasks with speed and accuracy.
Customer service skills on the phone, in-person, and online sufficient to provide effective general and specialized office support with common courtesy, tact, interest in positive problem solving, empathy, and the ability to organize ideas logically.
Ability to use math skills to perform calculations to order and maintain supplies and perform offender payroll functions.
Preferred Qualifications
One or more years of office and administrative support experience.
Knowledge of behavioral health services and/or health services.
Knowledge of data privacy and the Minnesota Data Practices Act.
Experience maintaining an electronic and/or paper filing system.
Experience working in a correctional setting.
Skills and experience using MS Excel or similar spreadsheet program beyond basic data input (such as formatting, sorting and filtering data, creating basic reports, utilizing mathematical formulas, etc.
Physical Requirements
The selected finalist is required to review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) for this position. For a copy of the PDA, please email Shelley Rojesky at [email protected] . This position will require Tuberculosis screening prior to hire.
Additional Requirements
The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.
Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections’ policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
New employees will be fingerprinted within the first 30 days of employment.
